Water Pavilion

Researchers at MIT developed a novel concept of a building created in part by water. The Digital Water Pavilion nicknamed Liquid Pixels, made waves at the 2008 Expo Zaragoza in Spain, the theme of which was Water and Sustainable development. The walls and roof of this pavilion were created using recycled cascading water. The walls flashed messages and graphics in breaks across the flowing water. The pavilion which in itself was a marvel to view had a public are, a café and an exhibition space. The roof which had the capacity of being lowered and was covered by a thin water layer, could be lowered into the ground making the structure disappear when not required. To ensure guests did not get wet while viewing the structure, the technology allowed for air gaps using advanced sensors.
