Green Car Journal announced the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta TDI as the Green Car of the Year 2009. This car which highlights the importance of clean fuel has several features that led to it beating the BMW 335d, Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid, Ford Fusion Hybrid and the Smart Fortwo to bag the award. The Jetta is extremely fuel efficient, environmentally positive, certified by 50 state emission boards, is affordable and also offers high end handling and ride quality. With over 8,000 units already sold since its launch in 2008, the Jetta has also found a place in the Guinness World Records for being the lowest fuel consuming hybrid.
