Mercedes introduced the world to BlueTEC technology which cleans diesel exhaust and also improves mileage offering users of the system a safer, cleaner ride. The company has also managed to combine the BlueTEC technology with a hybrid system to create a green vehicle. The revolutionary model was unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show as the Vision GLK BLueTEC Hybrid. This SUV offers fuel economy at 40 miles per gallon in addition to be a good looking vehicle.

Mercedes has always been one of the leaders in green vehicle R&D and plans are on to launch a range of diesel hybrids, BlueTEC diesels and fuel cell vehicles in the near future.
