Solar City – Dezhou

January 26, 2010 · 0 comments

Dezhou is a city in the Shandong province of China. This city is known as a solar city with most people using solar hot water systems and solar energy being used to power a range of requirements from lights to cars. Green Peace estimates for 2007 showed that nearly 800,000 locals were green collar workers.

Solar technology has been driven in Dezhou by Himin Group and Ecco Solar Group who are even in the process of developing photo-electricity. China’s Solar Valley as the city is known now, beat Australia’s Adelaide and Oxford, the British University town to serve as hosts for the 2010, 4th Wold Solar City Congress.

Not surprisingly, this city is home to the largest ever solar building which has facilities such as exhibition centres, research facilities, a sustainable hotel and training and meeting facilities all within it’s sprawling 75,000 square meter area. Dezhou is an example in ideal renewable energy management.
