Smart GmbH is the creator of the tiny (250 cm in length) Smart Fortwo, rear engine, two seater car that was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1998. The Smart car is ideal for city driving and parking and has several generations in existence since its inception.
The micro hybrid drive version was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007. This mild hybrid offers improved fuel efficiency and a reduction in carbon emissions. The company has been working on an all electric version of the Smart to use sodium nickel chloride batteries that take approximately 8 hours for a full charge.
