Simple Living

Simple Living or voluntary simplicity is a lifestyle adopted by those who wish to consume only as much as is required to sustain life. This could be for a wide variety of reasons such as health, spirituality, reducing ecological footprint, frugality, personal taste or even stress reduction. Some also associate socio political or anti consumerist goals with simple living such as conservation, de growth, sustainable development, ethnic diversity and social justice. Simple living differs from poverty as it is a voluntary lifestyle choice and many ascetics opt for this kind of lifestyle. Some notable individuals who chose simple living due to a spiritual inspiration include Leo Tolstoy, Rabindranath Tagore, Mohandas Gandhi and Francis of Assisi.
