Silvopasture

December 17, 2009 · 0 comments

Silvopasture is one of the techniques used in agroforestry where trees or shrub crops are actively managed to increase productivity. In this integrated approach, when livestock is encouraged to systematically graze on the forage crops it is called silvopasture.

Sheep, goats and cattle are the common livestock used in this system. The technique is used either by private farms or by collaborations between forest licensees and public land livestock producers.
