Seadog is a wave power system being developed by sustainable engineering company Renew Blue, a subsidiary of Independent Natural Resources, Inc. This wave power system will be used to run a desalination plant in Freeport, Texas. The resultant water will be bottled in plastic which is corn based and biodegradable and sold under the Renew Blue label.
Seadog uses a piston and buoy system combined with a water wheel to provide electricity that powers the plant operations at an offshore platform. Almost 60 kilowatts of electricity will be delivered by the system and this will be enough to light the plant and power the 3,000 gallon per day operating desalination equipment.
This invention has the potential to be adapted to sites across the globe and is scalable, zero on emissions and has minimalist design and construction specifications.
