Hycrete is an independent company based in Carlstadt, New Jersey that has created an eco friendly water soluble additive also named Hycrete. This additive when used in concrete makes the material water proof and also allows the debris to be reused.
Traditional waterproofing membranes used in concrete are virtually impossible to remove and that leads to a large quantity of used concrete ending up as municipal waste. Hycrete is non toxic and reusable and these two factors have earned it a ‘cradle to cradle’ certification from McDonough Btaungart Design Chemistry based on the products’ environmental friendliness.
Hycrete has been used in concrete stretches of the New Jersey Turnpike, a birdbath at the Bronx Zoo and a Maine ferry terminal to name a few.
