A cheesery in Ohio named Holmes Cheese Co. is soon to install a system that will have a sustainable biogas recovery plant attached to its waste water treatment system. This system named the UpFlow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket will allow the company generate sustainable energy to power all the equipment.
Biothane a subsidiary of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has developed this UASB and at the Holmes Cheese plant will include filtration and treatment equipment that will control levels of phosphorous in the effluent and maintain the water quality standards.
This form of biogas recovery from wastewater captures methane from the biodegradation of organic materials in the wastewater and converts it into sustainable energy.
